Crouch, Thomas James
CROUCH, Thomas James, jnr (1833–1889) was born in Hobart, son of Thomas James Crouch, a public servant and later Under-Sheriff of Van Diemen’s Land, and Sarah Rothwell. After being articled to Alexander DAWSON, Crouch practised in Hobart from 1850 before moving to Melbourne in 1852. After working on the goldfields he returned in 1854 to practice in Melbourne. In 1858, he entered partnership with Ralph WILSON as CROUCH & WILSON. Their partnership was dissolved in December 1881 with Crouch practising alone. He was an unsuccessful entrant in the Brisbane Wesleyan Church competition in 1886. After his death in Melbourne, the practice was continued by the sons of Crouch and Wilson and Crouch’s wife Mary Emma Bloore Turner (1835–1904).
